The StarOffice Schedule
application, a seamlessly integrated module of the StarOffice
software, offers a host of custom views that enable you to maintain
a daily, weekly, and monthly overview of all your events, action
items, and projects. Using StarOffice Schedule, you can define
a one-time or recurring event, check future appointments, and
manage and update your list of action items. Naturally, you
can also synchronize data with handheld digital assistants made
by 3Com/US Robotics for the Palm OS. |
New and improved features
include:
- Expanded cross-platform
and industry standard support: Now you can communicate with
anyone, anywhere, anytime with improved filters and expanded cross-platform
offer support for:
* Import and export of iCalendar files (which enhances compatibility
with Microsoft Outlook 2000)
* Import and export of XML iCalendar Task and Event files
* Flexible vCalendar attachment compatibility modes
- Enhanced drag-and-drop
support: Save time when managing your schedule. For example, when
you drag an event from the Event view to the Calendar view, enjoy
these options and benefits while dragging:
* When you rest your mouse pointer over a target date, the program
displays the drop position by inverting the target day from the
other days in the current view
* When you hold your mouse pointer over the left or right arrow
at the top of the Calendar control, or position it over a grayed-out
date of the previous or next month, the program starts scrolling
the Calendar view
* When you hold your mouse pointer over a date, the program automatically
adjusts the Event view. This enables you to sneak an at-a-glance
view of already existing events without stopping the drag-and-drop
process, and then drop the event onto the desired time slot
| In addition, while dragging an event
in the daily or weekly Event view, your drag-and-drop operation
is no longer limited to the days and time currently displayed
on screen. When you reach the left or right border of the current
Event view, the program automatically scrolls to the previous
or next day, week, or month view, so you can easily drop the
event onto the desired day and time slot |

- NEW Archive item on the Tools
menu: Quickly archive your existing events or tasks as XML
files. In the case of events, the program archives all those entries
with end dates that precede the specified archiving date in the
Archive Up To drop-down calendar box (the default is the current
date). For example, current events that began in the past but
are not been finished at the time of archiving are not archived.
In the case of recurring events, the end date of the repetition
becomes the reference point for archiving. For tasks, the reference
point is the actual date of completion. If you want to modify
the default path for saving the archive file, click Browse to
locate a different folder or directory. Once you click OK, StarOffice
software will back up and then delete your existing events or
tasks (up to the specified date) from the active planner. To load
the archive file again, select Import from the StarOffice Schedule
File menu.
- Enhanced formatting options: Stay on top of your busy
schedule using the enhanced Event Layout dialog box to:
* Color code your work and unscheduled time
* Assign alternating background colors to your monthly views
* Add and color code event categories
* Display detailed event descriptions in daily and monthly views
