The StarOffice Chart
applet efficiently presents complex data in visually
impressive ways, from colorful 3-D
charts to simple pie, bar, and line diagrams. |
New and improved features
include:
- NEW
Tip Help for Chart objects: Keep track of the source for
your data by hovering your mouse pointer over the object. In this
way you can see, for example, the main title, chart area, or legend.
By holding the mouse over a data point, Tip Help shows the number
of the corresponding row and column and the value of the data
point. The same information is given by Extended Help, which shows
the label of the corresponding row and column, instead of a number.
- NEW
secondary X-axis support: Create boxed charts that make
it easier to read the values. For XY charts, use one X-axis for
a fine scale, and another for a rough scale.
- Enhanced Transparency
functionality: Define a transparency for the colors in data
rows, data points, titles, legends, chart walls, and chart areas.
Previously, you could specify the transparency of a certain object
by using the options in a combo box on the Area Tab of the Area
dialog box. This combo box has been changed to the new Transparency
tab, which provides more options for specifying your own transparency
settings.
- More powerful formatting
and configuration options: Present your data in the most favorable
light with:
* Secondary light source: By default, StarOffice Chart
5.2 software uses a secondary light source when you create 3-D
charts. This avoids highlighting and guarantees smoother colors.
You can still assign the first light source by calling the dialog
3-D Effects
* NEW label options: In previous
versions, you could only combine text and percentages for data
captions. With StarOffice Chart 5.2 software, you may also display
the absolute value and text on labels
* NEW colors in the default color
table: Contains 12 additional colors
* NEW option for moving the sections
of a pie chart: The separate pieces of a 2-D pie chart may
be moved with your mouse
* NEW Chart configuration section:
When you select Tools > Options, you'll find a new entry for Charts.
Here the user can define the colors to be used when a new chart
is created.
